The Health and Safety Authority requires that “Fire-fighting equipment must be in place for employees to use, without exposing themselves to danger, to extinguish a fire in its early stages. The equipment must be suitable to the risks and appropriate staff will need training and instruction in its proper use.”
As an employer you are legally required to carry out a risk assessment and implement measures for fire prevention, fire detection and warning, emergency escape and fire-fighting. Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 also requires that training is provided by employers to ensure the safety of employees against dangers that may affect them, including fire.
